It would be impossible to catch up with everything I haven't blogged, so I will go from today, just for pure sanity sake!

My dad has been in poor health this last year, and trips to and stays in the hospital, have become a too familiar experience. My brother Dennis lives in Texas, and he and his bride Jacy came this weekend to see dad, and Jacy's aunt. We decided to have a family home evening, dinner and celebration together. We came together for dinner at my brother Steve's house, we went caroling to a dear family friend's home, went to see my sister and niece perform in the Huntington Beach Stake Christmas music fireside (excellent), came back to the house for dessert and singing carols around the piano. This is our dad, Warren Pitt enjoying the caroling with our family.I just wish more of my family could have been there, it truly was a memorable evening.

My dad lives with my sister Karen right now in his health condition, Karen and Skip and their family take excellent care of him, and it is great to have him close to us. Karen has been compiling dad's personal history, and we were given the first chapter in a small spiral book form with pictures. It is really great to have this.

The summer has been oh so busy, and beautifully so! Brendon and Steph and Henry were able to come and spend the month of August with us during Brendon's rotation at Loma Linda pediatric surgery. Brendon had loooonnnggg days, and we enjoyed time with Brendon when we could see him and with Steph and Henry daily. Stephanie was my kitchen angel, dinner was prepared every night when I got home from work!! We made a menu, and off she went...sweet gift to receive every day!!
Henry is all kinds of personality and loved getting outside every chance he could!!
It was wonderful to wake up to this boys' smiling eyes every day! He melted my heart when he would smile and reach out in the morning, and run to me when I arrived home from work. What a little love!

With Steph here, we took a fun day and had a baby shower for her future arrival of little Margaret in December! Of course we had great food, great company...
We decorated onsies, for our little miss! They turned out so cute!! And the adorable gifts! Then the arrival of grandbaby #8!!
Porter Fairbanks Shirley arrived at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, August 30th, just 5 hours before I arrived in Colorado! Heidi went into labor at 1:15 am that day, and our (big) little man arrived 12 hours later!

Momma Heidi was looking quite content as I entered her hospital room!

I was able to take some vacation days, and spent a week with our little Shirley family and enjoyed time spent with them all, cooking, playing, sewing, and just loving every minute. I got to give baby Porter his first bath, he was not a fan, and was happy when it was over! Even a few after midnight rockings with little Porter as he adjusted to his new life, here on earth! Sweet baby, sweet family...miss them so much already! Kiss them for me Heidi!

Our sister - in -law Sara turned 40! Phillip is a blessed man!!I made her a card "Forty isn't old" open...."if you're a tree!! I had to put a little joke in there, because she is the quintessential cool mom, gorgeous mom, decorator, talent up the wazoo with every facet of life...classy, okay...so the list goes on and on. LOVE HER!
Her daughter Emily (in the middle) and our sister in law Kayla...(also amazing) put together a surprise birthday party, we were happy to be there to help her bring in her 40's...

~Father's Day June 19th ~

For Father's Day we went by Russell's parent's house...forgot to take the camera in...Dork. We had a good visit with Mom and Dad Holmes and two of Russell's brother's families.

Then we went to my Sister Karen's house in Riverside. We had a great BBQ potluck...great food. Then after dinner, we went outside and sat around their family's portable fire pit, and took a great opportunity to spend some reminiscent time with our Dad, Grampa, Great Grampa, Warren Pitt. Growing up for our Summer vacations we most often went camping, and when we went we would sit around the campfire, and sing the funnest, and funniest campfire songs. We did a little recreating this experience. Karen had her son Mike videotape our time together. We laughed as we tried to remember the words, order of verses...and exposing some of our memories to our kids.
Of course we spent wonderful times holding our grandbabies, and loving them and getting new pics of them. Harley, sweet Harley ~ 4 months old.Karen has great fruit trees and the ladder was out for orange picking. Kennedy took the chance to go up, up, up. When her 6'5" daddy throws her up in the air all the time, heights are no problem. Dad took a call from Steve and Cheryl, since they were with their newlywed daughter opening her gifts. Henry was having a good time with Aunt Randi...And Karen was sharing snuggle and singing time with her grandbaby Ethan...We ended with making S'mores as well. Since Jordan looked like he was enjoying his so much..his Kennedy gave the sticky dessert a try, and came over with dirt and grass attached to her marshmallow covered skin.
Courageously, at the coaxing of Breana...I will now show you what it looks like when I fed my Henry some "Mallow" while his momma was inside, then trying to take a picture of his cute face, I put my s'more in my mouth, not thinking about the end result...so...ain't we a pair!!Great way to celebrate our dads, our family, and the love we share.

We headed on out to the Aquarium of the Pacific for a day together while Heidi and Brendon's families are in town.It was a fun mix of sea creatures large and small, with the Holmes Creatures large and small!The large fish tanks were great, and the hit was the shark and ray petting tanks. The toddlers passed on the strollers for running free, and we had a great time holding, chasing and exploring together.

From the time they were 5 & 7, Marisa and Andy Giorgetti were my kids too!! Everyday before and after school! Friday night Marisa was wed to the awesome Brett Callan. Andy and his son bright and beautiful son Caleb. Andy's adorable wife Megan was busy being the Matron of Honor, and the cake decorator and dessert bar creator.

Their Daddy George and I have been friends since high school. Soo....it has been a wonderful ride thru life with these friends who are truly family! congratulations Marisa and Brett!Heidi and Marisa grew up as sisters! They have stayed close. Alyssa and George, so happy for sweet Marisa!

Memorial Day with Family

For the past few years my nephew Mike and his wife Dejah (who is our Breana's Sister), have been having a Memorial Day BBQ and Pool party. Their community has a great pool, and no one
uses it that day!!
We have great time. Stephanie and Henry jump in right away!!

Brendon and Steph are staying with Mike and Dejah (yay) for the month while Brendon does his rotation at L.A. Children's Hospital.
We really had a great day with our water babies, Hannah and Warner relaxin' in the little floaty boat.oh and their mommies and daddies too!!.

As we headed home from the park, we knew that Brendon, Stephanie and Henry were on their way to our house from Utah! They made better time than they expected...and our adorable boy was hanging out in the front yard when we arrived! He thought he would do a little Norco "haystick" chewin' with a stick from the yard. We haven't seen him since December, but he let Gramma love on him, and played peek a boo with Grampa. He showed us his strong tummy muscles doing tricks with his daddy. Lots of good smiling, loving playing on our little choo-choo track with his beautiful mommy. Ahhhh good times with our beautiful family!

Saturday was a big day! We were invited to our great-nephew Roy Ferguson's 4th birthday party.. ~ slash ~ going away party for his family, as they are moving to Texas. My sweet niece Leah (Roy's momma) on the right, with Grant's family...It was a great day to have my new CAMERA!! Kennedy and Hannah loved the freedom of the park as they ran, and ran, and played and played. Kennedy was having fun on the slide going down by herself.
However Warner was sticking close to mom and dad.

Different day

There was a time when all 8 kids were home, that we spent more on our grocery purchases each month than our mortgage payment. We did about a gallon of milk per day, and that was limiting the milk drinking to breakfast only. Since it is just Russell, Skyler and me, I have actually had to pour sour milk down the drain twice in the last few months.

Today Russell and I went to Sam's Club, left with under 100 dollars spent, and everything we needed for the week. Kinda crazy...kinda good...but truth be told...miss the full house days.

Ponderings of a Mother's Day

Mother's Day was just here, yes it was. It was a beautiful Sabbath Day, filled with the blessings of attending Church services, teaching my cute 8 year old class about how Jesus taught in parables. I came home and got my beans in the oven, made parmesan mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. Russell barbequed Shish-ka-bobs. Yummy day all around. Gathering the family is all about comfort food. Oh, yes, it is! Loving on those who could come...and missing those who could not.

Then my ponderings of the day...our new generation of motherhood...

Having just returned from Heidi's for a visit, I was still contemplating my beautiful daughter, and my daughters by marriage... being mommies, and a great ones at that. Thinking about how they are valiant women of God, taking up the spiritual, emotional and physical challenge of multiplying and replenishing. So blessed to have them be the women they are to give daily to their husbands and their children, friends, extended family and giving in service to the church, each being that godly woman.

Being away from family is hard for Heidi (and me), we have been blessed to see her little family a few times a year, either here or there. The beginning of the month I needed to see my "Colorado babies", and took a short trip. Filled my cup for a short while. This little family is amazing. Heidi is a great mom, enjoying the small and great things of making a home. Matthew works hard to provide and support, love and teach.

Thinking about my sons, and how they have each married the perfect woman for them. I read their blogs, get to Skype w ith Heidi and Matt and the kids, Brendon, Steph and Henry....love the gifts of cyber space. I love them deeply. I see Stephanie, her genuine self, in her giving supportive loving gifts to Brendon, caring so amazingly for Henry. Wishing we were physically closer as well, aching to squeeze this boy!

I get to spend time with Julia and Breana weekly. It has been a gift to myself to share time with them while Grant and Jordan are in school. I have been richly blessed to get to know them better and deeper. Watch them in love with their man and their babies. Then to have grandbabies in my lap, playing, reading, feeding, talking, bathing, laughing at this early stage in their lives. New Holmes generations...Amazing. I watch all of my (yes, my) girls and am so appreciative of who they are and the gifts they all bring to our family. They are living the words of Sister Beck at the recent Women's Conference.

"The female responsibility of being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend...is all about nurturing, teaching and influencing. These are non-negotiable responsiblities. We can't delegate them. We can accept them. These are thing we understood before we were born, and we can't negotiate with the Lord whether they're part of His plan. These are our responsibilities."

I say these are our blessings. It's not easy, but so worth it. A special thanks to my girls for being the elect ladies they are, blessing our family with their righteousness.

Full weekend with Many emotions - & very wordy!

On Friday evening my hubby, Bishop Holmes called, he was on his way to a family's home in our ward, later to find out that the husband and father of the home passed away. Russell spent the evening with the family, and was very full emotionally and spiritually upon his return home at 11:30 that night. We are in the midst of supporting, offering comfort and sharing a message of love and hope to this family as they go forward.

Saturday morning I was up early putting on the finishing touches for a talk I was asked to give to the second year Laurels in our Stake. (I always have to practice, practice and still seem to forget a few things I wish I had shared). the Corona Stake YW presidency (love these women!) has created a wonderful tradition, taking the senior girls overnight, for workshops, fun and a trip to the temple for Baptisms for the dead ordinance work. This year we were on the coast of Newport Beach, on a beautiful pre-Spring California morning. There was an amazing workshop talk given by Malinda Merrill, beautiful young mother, inside and outside, giving the girls wise counsel on the decisions they are embarking on as they enter their Young Adult and college years. She brought the spirit, she walks the walk.

I was asked to share how you stay on the path in service and faith. I am blessed with an Eternal marriage with my love, we are on the same page, blessed to be equally yoked. We continue to strive to include the Lord in our lives personally and as a family. We also know that we all have our agency, and have learned that lesson these past two years more than ever. The Blessings and the struggles of this life experience.

My phrase for the day with the young women..."Decide Today, I will not Stray".

I have seen in recent years the blessings of those who continue on the path of righteousness. I have witnessed personally the blessings when you do. I have also in recent years seen with heavy heart too many that I know and love that have chosen to walk a different path than the Lord's blessed Path. Seen too many that I know and love, some subtly, some blatantly walk away from the Lord, instead of toward His Light in their struggles. That ripple in the water of choice affects more than just their own salvation and peace, but those who watch them and take lessons for good or ill away from their experience.

I have spent the last 13 years entrenched in Young Adult life with my own children and all that it entails. I pray for young adults, that they can keep their vision and hold onto the light that they have experienced as they find out who they are and can become. It makes the journey full of joy and clear if they will but heed His call to them.

Next ... my Cody moved to Utah today. I am excited for him as he follows his prayerful search for what is next for him. But I am saddened that the empty nest is growing still. I shall miss his smiling face and his obedient spirit.

I missed my Grandson Henry's 1st Birthday. This week he turned a year. It is so hard to be away from family, and not have alot of control over the time and space that separates you. Thank heaven for the internet, skype. He is a love, and I miss his bright smile and generous loving spirit. Love this little man!

We are so blessed to have an amazing, stretching, learning and growing family. So blessed to know that the Lord is there, only a prayer away,only a thought away, only a hug from a fellow saint and friend away. As the Young Women's song reminded us all on Saturday..."He's closer than you know, reach up, He'll take your hand".

Well hello Blogging world. I have now officially been released from my Calling as Stake Primary President. I am officially the CTR 7 teacher (LOVE IT!), and Program Coordinator. (When you are the Bishop's Wife, one calling is not enough...

It begins!
Here is the Gramma trying to get the babies to look at the camera...they are adorable...I look silly. Oh, well there are worse ones than this of me!

I arranged for my Corona grandbabies to meet me at the local Pumpkin patch...best layed plans for another venue...no go. So here we are. I can't believe how big they are! Warner and Hannah are 10 months old, and Kennedy is coming up on her 1 year old birthday next week. Amazing! I must say having my grandbabies born this last year, Daphne and Henry too!, has saved my heart and soul . The Lord knows huh?!!

These pictures were taken under the tent, so a silly orange glow from being surrounded by this mass collection of Fall Harvest ensued. Still....Adorable babes, none the less!!
I love seeing these two in the Daddy mode... my heart smiles.Outside for some more natural light.

A new calling

Today was an extra special Sunday. My Russell was set apart to be the new Bishop of the Auburndale Ward. About 3 years ago he served for two years in the Eastvale Ward, then our Stake Boundaries were changed, and we had to leave Eastvale. We have both had Stake callings since returning to the Corona Stake. Russell as High Councilman serving with the single's ward that our kids attend, me in the Stake Primary. So now a new adventure. One that we are somewhat familiar with, but also know it will be a different experience with our ward. Russell is excited, and will serve with all his heart, might, mind and strength. I know for I have seen him walk the walk. I am excited for the ward to get to know him and love him. He truly becomes a greater man in every sense as he serves the Lord.

Kindred Spirit

My friend Pam has moved.... I have amazingly in my life come across in each season and time a kindred spirit. A sister-friend who's spirit connect is strong and you just know you knew each other before this mortal journey. This is Pam Burch. From the moment she moved here from Arizona, it was there. We knew.
After over a decade of sharing lives, kids growing, kids dating, kids marrying, becoming Grammas, she is going back to Arizona for her husband's work. Sadly, we are not just losing Pam...but her husband Paul has been our Stake President for the last 5 years, and we are going to miss his wisdom and connect to the spirit guiding our Stake as well.

Pam, Michelle and I have been able to be lunch buddies. Pam and Michelle have both been able to retain their stay-at-home status, while I went to work. In doing so, Pam and Michelle and I have been able to meet for lunch for our birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's day. We have shared pictures, gifts, hugs, laughs and an appreciation for good husbands, and children who fill our lives so completely.

So my sister/friend....kindred spirit....you are not finished with me yet. You have filled my cup so many times, just when I needed it, you always seem to know. See you soon....Love, Sheryl

Randi's new adventure

If you know her....you LOVE her! Now after many years of schooling, taking in a break to serve a mission,back to school for Biology degree and volunteering hundreds of hours at the Riverside Community Hospital.....It's official, Randi gets to start her Physician's Assistant Program tomorrow! Yesterday she received her "White coat" in a special ceremony. She continues to set the pace of goals, achieving at the highest level. YOU GO GIRL!!

Russell Holmes Family Reunion 2010

That's kind of crazy to think that we are the parents/grandparents hosting the reunion with our own clan. Crazy...but great! We went to Duck Creek Campground up above Cedar City Utah. Pluses...all 20 of us are here, Mom and Gramma heaven. Russell and I met our Henry for the first time. Brendon and Steph and their cute Henry John... What a darling boy he is!Eating, visiting, playing games. Nature Hikes, Holding, rocking, playing with , and lovin' on my babies.

I get more than just by...with a little help from my Friends!

Tonight our dinner ingredients and the final product were a major gift from my friends! First, Catrina's husband Shawn went fishing last week. He caught a 9 lb. halibut, and I put dibs on a few fillets, since Catrina and Shawn don't even like fish!! Randi found a recipe in a magazine a while ago, and I put the halibut to use! A couple of layers of Russett potatoes, sweet potatoes, red potatoes sliced as the base, baked with feta cheese and butter. Cut up the fish in 2 to 3 inch chunks, coat in lemon juice, place on top of the baked potatoes, cover with panko bread crumbs mixed with dill and lemon zest. bake for another 15 minutes.

Of course in the middle of the baking....my oven dies! Potatoes done, what now? Call my friend Karen she lets me come finish baking my dinner for 15 minutes in her kitchen when we have had a 108 degree day. That is true friendship!!

On to the veggies on the side....my girl Mickie gave me a HUGE... AND I MEAN HUGE zuccini from her hubbies garden. Everyone was worried about it being tough, or tasteless....NEITHER!! Sliced up and sauted in some garlic butter.....MMMM....MMMM.....MMMMM!

Thank you girls! Excellent dinner thanks to YOU!

Today was the first Monday in two years that I didn't email my missionary son.
Because Today, I woke to find him in my Family room.
Today I rejoice in 6 children who have served the Lord on His errand.
Because Today I smile thinking about the lives they were able to touch.
Today I continue to pray that a 7th will find his way to this service.
Because Today I am reminded that the Lord knows my children better than I.
Today, returned missionary or not, they are better for His tutelage, His guidance, His Everlasting Love.

I am so used to my missionaries being the last off the plane....we were waiting to start seeing people come down the escalator....who should be FIRST?? Our boy. Everyone had to tell me to turn around. Of COURSE, I am the first one to get a hug from my boy....when what should happen? The batteries in my camera die as my brother in law Phillip is doing the photo opps, me and Russell hugging our boy. It was a good loooonng hug too!!

Then on to the siblings. Meeting nieces and nephews. A hug for his best high school friend. Britney Sander Wardle....A most deserved hug from his "Gramma" Linda Wishart who adopted our Cody, and wrote to him more than anyone other than yours truly of course!A pensive and thoughtful Returned Missionary (admittedly missing life in Honduras). Elder Cody Robert Holmes...in the Lord's Army in Tegucigalpa, Honduras....In a mere 4 weeks our 6th Missionary shall arrive home and be an official RM. Cody has grown leaps and bounds in his testimony, his love of the Gospel, his leadership and relationship with the Lord.

The countdown begins!! I can feel it.. I can't wait to hug this boy! On a recent visit to our school, the Superintendent of our District saw this picture as my computer backround. He asked me to tell him about the picture. So of course I did! He is familiar with our young men and women "serving a mission" He said he could tell he is my boy!

We were able to attend the wonderful event for Daylon Edling, my dear friend Dee's grandson. go to the website. http://www.helpmakeamiracle.org/. Our family was well represented...my nephew did characatures, my sister and her kids did balloon animals. And our own contribution...Russell went into the dunk tank. Jordan gave it a try, but missed all three times.. To be fair to him, they made him stand out farther than any one else. My neice Kristy was chompin at the bit to get her uncle dunked. It was a glorious day, and amazing to watch a community, family and friends near and far, come together for this baby and his family. Our Kennedy added her cuteness to the day!So great to take a small part in helping to make a miracle.

You buy matching outfits at a great sale at the Carter's outlet, and you and your daughter make matching headbands for a photo-op! My sister Lori and her hubby Brent were here for the weekend. William is their miracle baby, and only adorable child. He is hilarious. He found Jackson's T-ball set, and decided to organize a game. Russell, Lori and I (taking a break from cooking dinner) were on the "United States Eagles" and He, his dad and Grandma Pitt were the "Huntington Beach Sharks" My amazing 75 year old mother was the first one to agree to this fun time!Oh yes the Eagles also had Clyde the stuffed frog who had to have a turn at bat.

The Sharks had Pikachu on their team. We were all cracking up that this little man could get us all to participate in this rousing game of t-ball! Batter up!

Gramma's Blog Bragging!

I know you probably have had enough of my Gramma blogging...BUT it is only the beginning!! The final count for this round of bubbas is in! READY? These are our 6 incredible babies!

My Jackson...my first grandchild love of my life....is turning 3 in April. Hilarious, observant, smart and adorable! Hard to believe, but he went for 2 years all by his little self...and now...he shares with his little sister Daphne.

Our Daphne...this little angel has a smile that lights up a room! She is 9 months now, and pulling herself up, and getting all over the place! Can you say ADORABLE and DELICIOUS?

Kennedy Layne...what a sweetheart! She has stolen mine! At 4 months old, she is smiling, babbling...giving us raspberries! She giggles when I snuggle in and kiss her little neck. Our fair haired blue eyed blonde. Love this little bubba!Warner this little man is so fun! With momma's big blue eyes and daddy's mouth and chin...he has his dad's layed back disposition. He loves looking around and his smiles are heart melting! Reminds me so much of his daddy! These little twins had their special blessing day on Sunday...

Petite, tiny little Hannah. This girl is coming into her own. This past week she started smiling and cooing up a storm. Tuesday night I sat and talked to her for about an hour with her sweet little responding grins, just want to eat this little cupcake!

And now for Prince Henry! He is soooo cute. I really neeeeed to get my hands on this boy...trying hard to get to that Missouri place! Mom and Dad both have a slight cleft chin, we were waiting to see if he got it...yup, there it is! He looks fair, and mom and dad say he is doing so well. Eating, sleeping...good job for a little week old adorable one!

So there you have it the latest about the greatest grandbabies EVER!! I know it is tough competition out there...but it is what it is!

We have had the best year welcoming 5 new grandbabies into the family!! Our Brendon and Stephanie finished up our year of expecting momma's with the birth of Henry John Holmes! Born March 3rd at 5:16 pm. A healthy 8 lbs, 8 oz, 21" long. He is adorable...momma is beautiful, and she so did a great job, and handsome dad is in his glory.

Because they live in Missouri, I get to steal the pictures from their blog to show you Mr. Adorable Himself! Can't wait to hold him, and hug him, and kiss him, and love him, and sing to him...welllllllll you get the idea!! Welcome little bundle of love!

Marianne Warner was a kindred spirit. When we were in the same place, we would gravitate, sit together and catch up. Before she even moved to Corona, her sister in law, Cindy, told me, she was going to introduce us, because she knew we would hit it off. We surely did. My only regret is not spending more time with her one on one. Now she is not with us any longer. She is my daughter in law - Julia's mom. I miss her. I know Julia and her family miss her so much more.

Yesterday was Marianne's birthday, we would have been Gramma's together. We would have shared a love for our twin babies. My heart wishes it were so. I know she looks out for us all from her perfect place in heaven. I know it has not been easy for Julia to be without her. I would have loved sharing our babies. I would have loved it, as I love her.

Our Elder Holmes

Here he is at home before his service began....

Our Elder Cody Holmes has 4- 1/2 months left to serve in the Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission. I have been requesting pictures for a while, but he got his camera stolen last year as he was robbed, with his memory card of course. Randi said, gun or no gun she would have asked for the memory card.

He has been in some very remote areas where developing them was not possible. So finally with this last transfer, we received a few pictures with his email.

We knew he had lost weight walking 10 to 15 miles a day, because we had to send money for new shirts, new pants, and finally a new suit. Minus 60 lbs later, here is our much leaner, and fit Cody. He loves it, and gets up 30 minutes early every day to work out and keep toned up. So here you have the Elder we sent into the MTC, and here is Elder Holmes today.

Here is his email from this last week..he is so enjoying his service. It has been a very growing and moving experience for him.

"Heyyyy.....so, this week went great! The baptisms went through, our branch had 5 baptisms total, we had three and the other elders that share the area with us had 2. It's such an awesome feeling after suffering a bit to get these baptisms. But theyre doing great, we had a really good lesson with all of them yesterday. It's hard to think that the month is already closing in, and that February is coming around the corner. My time really is SHORT. We have a lot of potential baptisms for this coming month as well. We have Miguel, Margarita, Wilmer, Kelvin, Darwin, Deisy, and I think a couple others as well. We are working as hard as we can to get them in for Feb. and I honestly can say this is the happiest I've been in my entire mission! The fruits of our labor our showing! What has been a factor in this is our ability to answer questions and adapt the lessons to their needs. It's not enough to just blurt out the restoration at them, it's about making sure they understand that there was a need to restore the true church that Christ himself had established. Being able to study the scriptures everyday is such a blessing, and my knowledge has grown soooo much. It helps me realize my repsonsibility a little better. I have a few pictures in this e-mail, hope you like them!! I love you all, and thanks so much for supporting this great work. Give the missionaries references! They need them!

in our California Winter scene that I dream of being at home every day. Stormy, chocolate chip cookie baking, don't mind floor scrubbing kind of days. Holding and rocking my grandbabies, crafting, scrapbooking, don't mind laundry days. Going thru closets and drawers, gathering items for the D.I., dusting my desk, even don't mind paying bills kind of days. Get out the scriptures, study and pray, wish I was home kind of day.

As I was holding Hannah the other day, I was telling her about her amazing mommy. Not that she doesn't already know, but, I needed to share with her that information. I told her how I kinda picked out her mommy! I was good friends with Marianne Warner, and when her daughter came home from college, she pointed her out to me. Julia, her ballerina, graduated from the University of Utah, and was now at home in Corona. As I watched Julia, I noticed her modest dress, her ballerina grace, and heard her testimony in the single's ward. Knowing Marianne and Cole, I watched their daughter.

One of my favorite pictures of Julia!At Thanksgiving when Brendon was home from BYU, I pointed her out to him, and I talked her up a bit. Then Grant piped up....um, Mom, I am going to ask Julia Warner out. Oh, okay.

So for the next year, Grant did court this beauty. She spent time with him, and then with us. She had the experience of her life, as we invited her that summer to go on our family vacation, camping in Colorado. A road trip with the Holmes boys is quite an experience. She not only held her own...She survived. She survived long enough to accept a proposal from our Grant, and were sealed in the San Diego Temple almost two years ago.

Now she has begun her eternal calling of mother of two beautiful twin babies and she celebrated her birthday this week as well. We are so blessed to have in our family. So much of life ahead as Mrs. Julia Rebecca Warner Holmes. We love you!

Before Heidi and Matt left, I had to get over to Grant and Julia's and take a picture with our 5 adorable ones all together! Jackson wasn't very amused at first...(Grampa doesn't look so very either actually)he being previously used to getting the Lion's Share of the attention from Gramma and Grampa. A little comedy relief as Daphne stole one of Hannah's socks. Kennedy started to slip down, while the twins were content to sleep thru it all.

December, December to remember!

Dec. 14th, our twins are born. Dec. 15th - work Christmas party, Heidi, Jackson, and Daphne arrive the 16th, 19th - Stake Baptism, Brendon and Steph arrive the nineteenth, Of course all month we are keeping up with the improving health of my nephew, Jonathon, our amazing friend Britney, my dear dad, Warren Pitt. The shopping continues...the wrapping, the excitement of being together. While shopping the 21st, Cody calls to set up the Christmas day call. He sounded soooo good! The 22nd....Skyler turns 20, Matt arrives, as Trevor Westover returns from 2 years serving our Lord. The 23rd, dad is released from the hospital. No dialysis, no pacemaker, blessings. Dec. 24th, Holmes Family party, more cooking, more wrapping, Christmas Eve at home with all here except our Cody, Warner, and Hannah. Christmas story, Christmas jammies, blessings. December 25th - Christmas day - our Savior - Hosannah. Christmas morning. Pitt Family, food, laughs, cousins, babies, joy. Dec. 26th, Warner is released from the hospital, Dec. 27th - Hannah is released. Dec. 27th - Kennedy is blessed with all the family priesthood gathered round - powerful. December 27th - hold those babies, love those babies!! ALL Five of them!!!! December 28th, baby shower for Stephanie and our next little guy to join the Holmes clan. Adorable gifts, love felt, Breathe. December 30th, Heidi and Matt celebrate their 4th anniversary, attending the temple and off to Palm Springs for a night away. December 31st - we shall ring in the New Year. Wishing you a MOST Exciting, productive and blessed year!

UPDATE! Warner is tubefree! Grant sent me this picture!!

1st..your prayers and love are working. My dad is doing so much better. Not 100% yet, but the pacemaker is gone...and he was doing so much better when we saw him tonight. I told him how my friends are all praying for him, and adding him to their prayers, prayer circles, and prayer books, and he is so thankful to you as well!

Next.....We have twins!

Grant and Julia were over last night for dinner and to play games. It was the first time she had that pre delivery look, and when I told her, she said "oh, what is that...I hope it's good!" Good it was. We got a call from Grant at 11:45, Julia's water had just broken, and they were on the way to the hospital.

Of course I had a hard time sleeping. I was up at 4:00 am, and texted Grant. She was in her room, and dialating. By 8:00 am she was at 5 cm, and fully effaced. I went to let their dog out, and feed him, then off to the hospital. Grant called me as I pulled up to the hospital, and they were going into the operating room, just in case it was a C-section.

Julia's dad and I were waiting for about an hour, when Grant came out at about 11:45, and let us know our babies were here. Warner Russell Holmes was born at 11:07, 5 lbs. 15 oz, 19 3/4 inches. Hannah Marianne Holmes was born at 11:25 4 lbs. 13 oz. 18 inches long. We got to see pictures, and then went in to see Julia at about 12:00.

After visiting with our newest supermom, delivering two babies without a c-section, and looking fabulous, but oh so tired and sore. Grant and I went into the NICU to see our babies.

Little Hannah is quite the trooper. She is eating well, breathing well, and all is well with our little petite and sweet beauty, looking like her mommy.

Little Warner, what a guy. He is having a bit of trouble keeping his lungs full. So our guy has oxygen tubes, an IV, and a gastro-tube to keep the air from going to his tummy. The nurses say it should only be for a couple of days.

So, a new part of my heart is given to our newest Holmes babies. And as my daddy's heart is healing mine feels so much better. Thank you all for your thoughts, wishes and prayers. We are blessed.

My dad, prayers and blessings

My dad had a heart attack yesterday. I was at work, about 8:45 am, and my brother sent us all a text, that they called 911. I called Steve, and they were at the hospital. Dad was having a heart catheter procedure to see how his arteries were looking. By the time I got to Fountain Valley 45 minutes later, he was still not out of surgery. When the doctor came out a few hours later, he said it was bad. His main right Coronary artery was blocked 95%, and his midline right artery, blocked 100%. They put in 3 stents into his arteries. Dad had a triple bypass 15 years ago, and had a pretty good history since. But his diabetes has not been good this year, and has had complications with his kidneys. So at 76, it is a tough go this time. He had a temporary pacemaker put in.

Steve and his son Chad gave dad a blessing, and so many prayers are being said on his behalf. After a few hours in ICU, his heart was doing most of the work on it's own, without the help of the pacemaker. He was alert, and thankful for the love and support.

Today, he is resting, and my mom is with him. His nurses say he is doing well, and just needs to rest.

I am so thankful for priesthood power, for an amazing family and network of friends who know that the Lord is over all.

Today was our Tithing Settlement. The Lord surely has in place a financial plan for the care of the saints with earthly and eternal blessings.

Today my Randi spoke in her singles ward about what makes us a Happy People. She is such a blessing to our family, because she shines that Light of Christ always. Many people want to know why she is so happy...she lets them know it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

After Randi spoke Bishop Kirk got up to speak of our dear friend Britney Sander Wardle who was in a car accident with her husband of less than a year, Randy, in the early morning hours on their way to a family Thanksgiving celebration. She was airlifted to Las Vegas where she is having miracles take place in her healing, but she has a long way to go. Bishop also heard of a collegue of his was killed over the weekend in a car accident. Bishop Kirk asked for a sincere and long look from each of those in the congregation to turn their prayers to our Father for blessings of those around us who are in pain and in need. Reminding us of our Fast Sunday approaching.

To add to our prayers and fasting, our nephew Jon was in a head on collision this weekend, and is in critical condition. He is a husband and father of 3 small children. So far they have reattached his scalp, done facial reconstruction, put a rod thru his femur, and tomorrow he will be having surgery on is C2 vertibrae, to stabilize his neck as his back is broken in 3 places. He is on a ventilator. It is hard and it is solemnizing as well think often and deeply about those we love.

My prayers this Sabbath day and this week are going to be more frequent vocal and in the quiet of my heart. These prayers said in behalf of Britney and her family, Jon and his little family, their parents, we know to be our family, as we rally sending our love and pleadings heavenward for continued healing.

Little Miss Kennedy Layne Holmes joined our family November 3rd at 9:44 pm. She weighed in (only time you can say that about a girl with out a punch in the nose!!) at 7 lbs 6 oz. 20" long. Our sweet baby girl just gazed at her momma the 30 minutes or so that we were there last night. Breana did a great job, and is going to be an amazing mommy!!She looked so much like her daddy to me last night.

Tonight she looks likes a Holmes still, but different (of course, guys don't understand this at all!).

She reminds me a bit more of her momma, but she also looked a bit like my newborn Randi. Daddy is proud, Gramma is thrilled and in love, and Grampa was quietly taking it all in as is his way.

Welcome sweetheart...we love you so much already!

A Soccer Saturday!

I was quite the Soccer mom....at one time we had 5 boys playing on 3 teams, luckily every other year they could be on the same team. You can imagine me being the sideline cheerleader! I miss those days.

This year I was able to sponsor a cute little 6 year old boy to play soccer for the first time. His mom is one of the bus drivers at our school. She has been bringing Angel with her on her run occasionally since he was 3. She is a single mom and all the burdens that that can sometimes carry. We were talking one day about how she wanted to get him into something social, hopefully a sport, but her ex had been layed off, and child support in arrears, it just wouldn't be happening. So I got to be his Sponsor! I was able to go watch a game of the "Invaders". Angel started off as goalie, and as all good coaches do, subbed him and the other boys in and out during the game. When 6 year olds play soccer, it is quite entertaining....good exercise as they run, and run and run!!He was in heaven, he is having a great time interacting with the boys on his team. His coach is a great role model and support. Of course, there were the water breaks...No Victory on the score board, but absolutely one for this little guy! Great Day for a soccer game!

My Boy is 26!

He is just a little older than I was when he joined our family!
Brendon John was born #4 in the line of Holmes Children. He was a bit of a sober soul compared to my first 3. In being so, he was a bit more attached to mom the first years of his life. He was quieter than most.

Brendon amazed us all with his intellect, and his observation. Because in the quiet of his demeanor, he was always quietly observing, learning, storing up.

Brendon learned how to connect to the spirit and to his conscience very young as well. He has been an academic, (Go Cougars!) a sports enthusiast, volleyball on the top of his list. He knows how to set goals and how to acheive. Brendon is currently in his 2nd year in Medical School, in Kirksville, MO. He is doing the thing that he has talked about since he was 6 years old. He's gonna be a Doctor.

When Brendon was dating, he had high ideals and goals in his dating. He dated the modest girls, sweet girls. His college years concerned me a bit, as I waited for him to find that special and amazing girl that deserved his dedication to the Lord, and to his family and to his vision for his future. Well, we were so excited when we met Stephanie. As their relationship evolved, we saw in her an amazing young woman who was all he was and could see their Eternity begin with that sweet sense of peace. Brendon couldn't do what he is without her by his side.

We love her dearly. We are so blessed that our children have chosen the Perfect mates!

Now a new chapter begins as they prepare for the arrival of their baby boy in March. From my baby, to obedient boy, to surfer dude, college student, missionary, husband, college grad, med student, and now Daddy. We wish you a most Happy Birthday, and a wonderful year ahead! Love you son!

We are so pleased to introduce you to
Baby Boy Holmes! Brendon and Stephanie are due in March, and the big day of the Ultrasound was Friday! Brendon called as they left their Ultrasound Appointment. We are soooo excited.

So the Grandbaby count went from 1 to 6 in one year!! I guess that is what happens when 3 boys get married in one year, then less than 2 years later all have babies!! Do I hear "Multiply and Replenish the Earth"? Oh Yeah!

I Feel My Savior's Love

#1 - I have no camera currently, so my blogging has slowed, as you can tell. But, I have a need to express my thanks to my Savior for an outpooring of the spirit in my life.

I have been attending the various Children's sacrament meeting Programs in our Stake. As the Stake Primary President, it is certainly one of the great perks to be able to see each ward's program as we sit literally at the feet of these most precious souls, and feel of their love of our Savior, and their voices raised in Praise of Him and what they are learning. At each one, I have had tears fill my eyes, and my heart warmed and enlarged by their pure faith in Him.

In the guide for this next year's Primary program, it speaks of attending these programs, and "being taught" by our children. I so agree with this, as I have experienced it first hand.

This year's program is about My Eternal Family. In the course of the year, they have talked about their own families, and the beautiful concepts of things they can do Now to prepare for a family of thier own someday. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is amazing!

#2 - I was able to attend a Regional "Little Philmont" training for scout and priesthood leaders. President David L. Beck - the General Young Men's President of our church, is truly a man of God. As he conducted, spoke, created a learning and sharing environment, I felt the spirit there, as he testified of the need for our young men to be involved in the scouting program, as the Activity arm of the Aaronic Priesthood. He reminded us, that whether in a scout shirt,or in a white shirt and tie, the young men are first, Priesthood holders, and whatever they do should magnify that Priesthood. In truth, I was not looking forward to giving up my Friday evening and full day Saturday to this training, but I have pondered the experience, words, and feelings of the spirit so much this week, that I am so grateful I was able to attend. The Lord knew I needed that!

#3 - My husband rocks! Yesterday was our Breana's baby shower. I had a busy day ahead of me. First thing when Russell woke up, I was out here on the computer making my "list" of what needed to happen, when and where, shopping...etc. Russell asked "do you need me to do anything for you?" Love This Man! He went to Sam's while I went to Ross, Brighton, and Stater's. He came home and made the chicken salad with Randi, and cut the rolls. Next we went up to the church where we set up tables and chairs, he filled the rolls with the chicken salad. then he ran home for a few things I forgot, went and got ice. After the shower, came and helped me clean up, took rocking chairs handed down to both our daughter's in law. Came home and tidied up the house, and dressed so handsomely in a white shirt and tie, and served with the other High Councilmen at the dinner following our Relief Society Broadcast. Cutest Waiter there!

#4 - The Relief Society Broadcast. The words of each speaker touched my soul, as did the music.
On our row in the chapel sat my Randi, Julia, Me, my sister Karen, my mother, and my aunt Jean. As we joined to sing " How Firm a Foundation" together, my eyes once again filled as the spirit filled my soul. I am Blessed.

The first message on my answering machine is ..." Happy Birthday Gramma...I love you (j-man) Happy Birthday mom, call us back, we love you (heidi). Followed by a call to Colorado for a talk to these cuties!

The first text message on my cell phone today "Happy 51st birthday sista!! Hope u have a great day=) from my brother Dennis.

The First voice message on my cell phone.... a most lovely, creative and resounding rendition of Happy Birthday to you from my sister Jana.

My first peek at Facebook today....Wowee kazowie.... you can surely feel some love from all the friends and relatives cyber singing and sending love and wishes my way!! Special love from my kids and siblings there too!!!

The first entry to the workplace....balloons, pastry, songs, and gifts.....always spoiled at my friends at school!

My first email.... a birthday wish from Julia

My first phone message at work today...birthday wishes from my sister Karen. She called again, and we got to chat :)

Treated to lunch by my office mate Christina....

Then my Russell, Garen, Randi and Skyler show up at my work with balloon, flowers, candy , a song, hugs and kisses!

Then......a song from my neice Meredith, and a chat with Kayla, a voice message from my brother Brent, text messages from Jordan and Grant. Phone call from my mother in law!

Arrive home from work, see the mail.... a card and gift from my brother Dennis, a Card and gift and a box of Hazel Holmes famous chocolates awaiting me!!

Now by way of sweet and generous gift card....Dinner at PF Changs! MMMMMM.

Sooooo, if you have to turn 51, I hope you get to do it in style like me! Thanks for all the love!!!

This is our little momma! She grew in the last few weeks! She is 5 1/2 months along already, cute little tummy, where our babies are growing!

My Cute Julia invited me to go and register for the twins with her yesterday! (Grant and Russell went surfing!) We had a great time looking at Strollers, car seats, shooting the registery gun at the cute things. Biggest struggle was not buying everything I saw right then. Because Julia was there, I can show you the adorable "preemie" sleeper collection for our little bubs!!

Skyler tells me, that I say mine and ours too much, when it comes to my daughters in law and our Matt and my babies. But guess what.... that is the current payoff for having kids....grandbabies!!!

It's True! Julia and Grant had no idea. They went to find out what the sex is of their baby....and found out there are two healthy babies in there! A boy and a girl! So much fun! Julia is due January 13th, but they said it would more likely be around New Years with there being two...So We are going from 1 grandbaby to 6 in a year!

The Princess Miss Daphne Jill Shirley came to California to meet and greet her subjects. She was blessed in the same dress her momma was 27 years ago, made by my mom Geri Pitt....so special! Our sweet girl in white, received her blessing from her daddy Matt at Church on Sunday. She was royally welcome by her subjects and we all gathered for a luncheon in her honor afterward. There approx. 75 family and friends came together to celebrate her new life, and our new little love. Her brother adores her, her mother and father love her dearly, and she melts Gramma and Grampa's hearts! We love having our little chats! while they were here a few days it was a really lousy time for my camera to be broken!! So we rely on momma Heidi's camera, but ya know we were both too busy to get as many pics as we wanted.

Thursday, picnic and play at Corona Citrus Park Splash Zone. Jackson was in his element, hanging out with Skyler and romping in the water!then Friday, we had dinner at Huntington Beach....no pictures :(

Then Saturday morning dawned with our little man kicking back on gramma's front porch with a soda, and a little man sized chair, doesn't get much better for a 2 year old little guy.

We gave dad a little tease with a "taboo" mohawk...for just a few hours....A few hours later Skyler finished off the buzz cut, and just in case you didn't already know... this guy is a rock star to us, whatever his hair looks like. He is so smart, and so fun....they are off to Utah now.....Miss them already! It's gonna be a very long 4 (5) months til Christmas, when I can kiss my little cherubs again....

Monday July 6th at Huntington.... Brendon and Skyler heading out.

So the ONE THING that was a must for Brendon on his California holiday was to spend a day surfing. Being the diligent one, he prepared for the day with a workout regimen that would strengthen the muscles so as not to waste the day...so he was victorious over the waves!

His cute wife Steph was diligent in taking the pictures of his prowess of the day. We missed the big ones.

then we are on to our Beach Babies! Jackson was thrilled with being able to throw sand liberally!! Especially with Aunt Jana Coaxing him on...as you can see he loved it! Don't worry this little white boy was well slathered in Sunblock...(a few times!)

After processing and recooperating from a bit of worry here and there over my boys, our out of town kids began to arrive. (Elder Holmes is fine, and after 10 days, Garen is home from the Hospital. You are all awesome for your prayers in our behalf).

We started at LAX the morning of July 4th, and had to wait an extra 2 hours since Heidi was sitting on the tarmac at Denver International with two babies by herself. Way harder for her than us. We went to my sister Jana's house for her blockparty in Lakewood. Thanks to Dejah for this photo collage.

After this adventure, we picked up Brendon and Steph in Ontario, and enjoyed the fireworks from our front yard with our kids. Great day, with more family time to come!

What a WEEK! and it's not over yet!

So we start the week with Cody and his excitement in Honduras...get calm about that, then yesterday Garen headed out to the Riverside County Medical Center due to a large absess on his back, and had been off his blood pressure meds for a few months. So we don't hear from him and I finally hunt him down at 8:00 pm. He has been there since 10:00 am, and is just now getting admitted. His heart rate decided to go off the charts. So he is now in the Critical Care Unit being monitored and trying meds to regulate it better. Myyyyy Goodness. Mother worry doesn't stop when your kids grow up....sorry you young mommies. So lots of extra prayers going up this week thanks for joining me there.

"I'm back in the world again! I'm sure most of you have heard of the situation with Honduras and its political problems. Well these last few days have been interesting with being on lockdown and everything. And the one thing that went through my mind this whole time was whether or not I would be able to see these people ever again or if I would have to finish my mission in some other place... What I realized is that I truely do have a love for these people and now that we've been let out to work again, it's given me hope that I can finish my work here where I belong. But who knows, anything could happen in these next couple of weeks. All I know is that whatever does happen, we're in the Lords hands and it's all in his wisdom. I really do thank everyone for the prayers that were given, every single one of them helped us out. Everything is great, it feels soooo good to be back out and working again!

Our Elder in Honduras

My phone rang at 7:20 this morning, and on the other end was our Elder Holmes. Cody told the President, if he didn’t get to call me, and didn’t hear from him today, he knew I would be making many phone calls, so we spoke for about 10 minutes.

If you have seen any news this weekend, you know that the military has overthrown the current President. This picture is of the military during this coupe on Sunday. The President is a scary guy, in consort with Cuba and Venezuela. So….the missionary force is on lock down today.

As Russell and I spoke with Cody, he said it is eerily quiet there. I would think most citizens are choosing to stay in as well. Cody and his companion were allowed to go out and get supplies, and meet with members on Saturday, but as of yesterday, church services were called off and they are not to leave their homes and apartments. They have been asked to study their emergency procedures, and they are praying for things to be peaceful. So as the mom and dad of our Cody, we are asking for your faith and prayers in behalf of our Cody, and the others who are serving in Honduras.

When I arrived at home from work, there was a message on my machine from the Mission Home in Honduras. Letting us know that our son is fine, has food, and every precaution being taken. thanks to all who responded to my email....Prayers are everything!

Cal Poly Pomona Graduate!

"Bachelors of Science Degree in the Study of Biology" That is what they announced for our Randi Holmes on Friday, June 12th! Our girl has worked hard and long to have this diploma in hand! Going from AA degree in Psychology, to a full time Sister Missionary for 2 years in Boise Idaho (time home for knee surgery in there) , returning home to change majors and schools, to a 5 year journey to receive her degree in Biology working full time and getting great grades, and next to venture out to go to graduate school working to receive a Masters Degree in Physician’s Assisting. So this next year she is going to be volunteering to get "patient hours", and a job in which her Biology degree will be of great use. Then applying to more graduate schools this fall.

We were waiting for the festivities to begin Grandma and Grandpa Holmes with Daddy Russell , Kelly and SkylerShe decorated the top of her mortarboard with her initials and glitter, can't miss that! Her Professors that I met, had great things to share about our bright and intelligent girl, and wished her well on her future endeavors. We went from Graduation to dinner, and had a great time with family and friends to celebrate this great day for our Great Girl!

As I arrived at the Denver airport on Friday afternoon, I received that greeting I was waiting for as My Jackson's face lit up, and he jumped to me! Love it! We stopped for a little yogurt at the airport. All afternoon and evening Heidi was having mild contractions then in the evening they were stronger, but quit when she moved around. The night was uneventful, but by morning the contractions were getting stronger and closer. We took an afternoon stroll downtown Brighton at the annual Cultural Street fair. Jackson got a kick out of the remote control dalmation on the fire engine!When we got home, we had lunch and took a nap. By about 5 pm Heidi was laboring well. She called her doctor’s service at we were at the hospital by 7:30. This is the little mom happy to be leaving for the hospital. It went very well, and she did great with pains strong and about 4 minutes apart before getting the epidural at about 9:30. Daphne Jill arrived at 12:57 pm officially on her due date of June 7th. She weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 19 ½ inches. She's telling daddy all about it! She resembles her brother’s newborn pictures, but is her own little person. Gramma’s little beauty! She latched on to feed for 45 minutes immediately, and that was amazing, as nursing was a difficult process for Jackson at first. She wrapped her hand around her momma’s pinky finger…so sweet.

When Jackson arrived the next morning, he went right to his sister to give her hugs and kisses. He told "sister, I love you". Heart melter! Blessing to be gramma!!

My Bird Man

Yesterday I received a call from my hubby while at my desk at work. Russell has been telling me of a nest of hawks out side his office, and he has enjoyed watching as the momma brings food to her young. Well, one of those young fell out of the nest yesterday, and was lethargic, and wouldn't move much at all. Soooo with the excitement of a youngster, Russell explained to me how like last years sparrow hawks, he was going to bring this baby hawk home to see if he could nurse it back to health. It is quite beautiful, but much larger than those sparrow hawks were. After some food and water, it perked up quite a bit. The real problem is that its claws, or talons I guess, aren't opening, and it doesn't stand on it's legs at all. This would be a problem for trying to fly, or catch food. Russell put in a call to a friend that is a vet to see if there is anything that can be done. Gorgeous creature isn't he? Oh the bird is pretty great looking too!

Books

I have always had a love of children’s books. As a child my mother instilled this in me. I started reading before Kindergarten, as did many of my kids. I am always on the look out for books for my Jackson, and have bought our baby girl a few already as well. I love to buy books for my nephew William and have helped my niece Kristy aquire a library of Junie B. Jones.

Yesterday after work I wasn't feeling well, and unfortunately had to miss a gathering entitled “Books for Kenya”. My boss (principal) belongs to West Coast Companeros, Inc. A group of former Jesuit Priests who spend much time and energy helping the poor and needy. Such is their current project with Ger Liech Primary School in Kenya. They are collecting new and gently used books, and money to ship, as it costs about 50 dollars a box to send. There are many good hearts out there donating both. A wonderful project. Although they do have their own language, all of their studies are done in English.

We know that the reading of good books is imperative as is literacy. A pleasure to imagine those students in that the far away land enjoying a good story sent with love.

Sunday is that day when we are all able to take pause and celebrate the one woman who in giving us life, also gave us wings. I know it is so for my mother. Geri Pitt. Mom has let us know from the time we were small, that you give life all you have to give. She instilled in me the knowledge of who I am, the means by which I could come to know that for myself, and in the process develop a relationship with my Heavenly Father and Savior. She has always led out by example. Example of love, dedication, service and sacrifice. At 75, she is just now figuring out that as a Great-grandma, her physical being may, and I do say MAY, be slowing down more than she would like. Her quick mind, and love of learning are ever present for all to see. As she learns, she shares. If you know her well, you know the likes of her self-mastery is rare and would be hard to find equal.
Each day to me is a new day of knowing that I was sent to this, my angel mother for a reason. In knowing her, being loved by her, I am grateful to see a glimpse of what our Father has planned for us as Eternal Families.

I had a good May Day...how bout you? I was able to do a little Flower delivery to a few of my most favorite girlfriends!

I received a call from my Heidi who is due in 5 weeks with our Grandbaby GIRL! She went to the doctor today and everything is great....

I shopped a bit for a few baby showers this week, sooooo, of course a few cute things were just waiting for Gramma to buy for our little girl! this is TOOOO FUN! Whatcha think Heidi?

10 years and counting!

It is crazy to think, but I am about to receive my 10 year service pin for being an official employee of the Corona-Norco USD. When my kids were small, and babies were still coming, for 19 years I did things at home to add to the family income. I crafted and tole painted items to sell, I did daycare at my home for 9 years. Then when Skyler was in second grade and the last of my daycare kids moved away, I started substituting in the school district. The first year and a half, I subbed where ever they needed. I was a Health Clerk (glorified mommy) dispensing medications, cleaning boo-boo’s, amazing how good I was at that!! Then I tried my hand at classroom assisting…that was okay, but too much down time for me. Then I started doing Clerical subbing….my niche. I could interact with the kids, parents and staff, and keep busy. There are always things to do in a school office.
I came to Victress Bower as a long term sub. I actually almost turned the job down. But I came and fell in love with the students, staff, and the family atmosphere that is Bower. What an incredible place of love and dignity. I have shared a few things before, but this is a great “work family” to be surrounded by daily. Recently my sister-in-law asked me how I liked my job. Truth be told, I would much rather be at home taking care of things there, that has gone out of control this last 11 ½ years….BUT, since I do have to work right now, there is nowhere I would rather spend my days.
I really do know that the Lord has blessed me with this job. I am close to home, work my 8 hour days, go home to be a wife, mom, gramma, servant of the Lord. I am very grateful for the Lord’s guidance and blessings for this “working mom”.

Uncle Gerald came for a visit!

Russell is the oldest of 10 children. 6 boys (we are missing Robert here) and 4 girls. Russell is just under 6'2", so you can see here, these are some tall guys! Most of the sibs are here in So.Cal. exceptions being Barbara in Oakland, and Gerald and his crew in North Carolina. Fabulous thing is when Jordan was serving in North Carolina, his first area was smack dab in Gerald and Kim's Stake, so since he was a Spanish speaking Elder....he was able to go to their home for his First Thanksgiving and Christmas in Raleigh. Too cool. They took very good care of him. A few years and a few beard hairs later.....

Gerald took a bit of a detour to come and see the family over the weekend between business stops. The guys went to a Jazz concert/show in L.A. on Saturday night, then last night the family came together to do what we do best, eat, talk, laugh and enjoy the lovin'!

Warren Pitt - My Dad

This is my dad. He has kept us on our toes the last few weeks. He has been in the hospital twice this month with complications from his diabetes. The first week, it was hard seeing him there as he looked frail and sick for the first time in his 75 years. His kidneys were failing, and his heart was at risk because of it. He went home after getting everything back in control. Then back in this week, to care for his leg wound.

It is amazing to watch your parents go thru life and be resilient, and mostly healthy, and supportive and proud, and then to see them vulnerable is a whole different experience. This week he had surgery on his leg for wound that was really bad from his lack of circulation. This time when we went to see him, he was up and in really good spirits, and did our hearts good to see that he is on the mend and listening to what the doctors are telling him.

We were able to buy him a new recliner that lifts him out of the chair, and has a vibrating element. He said he is in heaven.

Daddy, we are glad we could contribute to your "heaven" on Earth, cuz we want you here for a long time to come. Love you!

Gramma & Grampa's adventures in Brighton, CO

Hey Everybody....my Gramma & Grampa are here!

Spring break arrived, and thanks to a great deal on United, Gramma and Grampa packed our bags and headed to see our Colorado kids. Matt and Heidi have a beautiful home, surrounded by natural beauty, and we took great advantage of it all. The icing on the cake literally was being there to celebrate our baby's 2nd Birthday! Hard to believe, but it's true. Of course all Gramma's think their baby is the most beautiful and brightest.....but this kid amazes me. He was just here in February, and the level of new vocabulary in just two months was incredible. His understanding of questions and conversations, fenominal. Yes, I could gush for hours, so I will just go forward with a few pictures of our adventures. Upon arrival, he melted my heart as we ran together for a hug and reunion at the airport! This is the face I can't get enough of. Heidi took us to Eldorado Springs and we went on a hike. The highlight for Heidi and I was seeing our "Gampa" in his element with his grandbaby. The two of them were in boy heaven.

My Grant is 24! I remember when this little guy came into the world. He was my little small dark and handsome boy, and grew to a tall dark and handsome man. Grant was so easy to raise. Very sweet baby, easy going, athletic little guy , and a hard working young adult and man. Grant is one like his dad who likes order, a place for everything, everything in it’s place. He married our sweet Julia, just a year ago, and they are perfect for each other. We can’t wait to see what my little grandbabies will be. Soccer playing boys with ballerina grace, or ballerina girls with athletic prowess on the field. A little of both!! No big rush kids, but I am ready when you are! Wink wink!

This is my baby sister who just turned 30! This is my nephew Chad's wife - cute Amber - on the left with Jana. – yep – my mom was pregnant at my wedding, and Jana was born 6 months before Garen – my oldest! When we received our first bonus baby sibling – Tara – Sept. 9, 1977, my mom didn’t want to just have one bonus baby…. so adorable chubba bubba baby Jana bounded into our lives! My parents gave us another blessing on March 21, 1979. Jana Marie was born.

Now my mother calls Jana – “Sheryl” all the time, and I get “Jana” as well. Jana and I do have a bit of similar personalities, but Jana goes above and beyond in the F-U-N department. If you want to have a good time, and enjoy lots of laughter, make sure Jana is there.

Jana served a mission in Bulgaria. Just recently at a family fireside, with tears in her eyes, Jana said she realized that she was sent to serve in Bulgaria to bring smiles and laughter into the lives of the Saints and those the Lord prepared to receive the Gospel. Life in Bulgaria is very depressed, and the people don’t have a lot to smile about. But, because along with a large dose of Testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ, Jana lives the Gospel with absolute Joy, and lets the world know why she is so happy.

She is an absolutely amazing girl. Jana married her hubby Loren in May of 2006. Loren is Jana’s equal in the living life with Zest and Comedy. He loves her deeply and completely, and she him. We are anticipating the days ahead when they grow their family, as we know it be a delight to watch them parent little bubs!

Jana is the first one to call and wish you a happy birthday, and start your day with a smile. She is thoughtful, and totally at peace with who she is and although she has an idea of how happy she makes us all, she has touched us all with a depth of heart that is rare and we love her for it. So baby sista of my heart, you are a joy, a kindred spirit, and I cannot imagine life without you! I love you!

When people ask where Jackson gets his redhair, I think, Seriously? Cuz in my minds eye, I can see a redheaded baby girl placed in my arms 27 years ago! Happy Birthday Heidi! I am so very blessed to have this girl for my daughter. Creative, talented, spunky to beat the band, loving, trustworthy, spiritual, leader, teacher. Scrapbooker, pedicure lover, and fabulous shopper.
When you have children, you wonder how they will grow, and who they will be, and I have to say, I am a very grateful mom. Heidi is a great Mommy, and wife, and puts into practice all the things that I could imagine and then some. She is her baby’s momma, and her hubby’s “love”, and her momma’s and daddy’s girl.

My Brudda is Here!

My younger brother Dennis lives in Texas. He raised his family there, and now he is a grandpa too! Dennis brought his kids and their babies to California for a few days to enjoy the fun, with not so much sun. But we got to get together at Knott’s Berry Farm Chicken Dinner Restaurant Friday night, and we are got together again Sunday for big family dinner.

It was my first chance to get my hands on these two bubba’s. Kennedy and Wyatt.

Little Miss Kennedy is the sweetie pie daughter of my niece Ashley and her hubby Brett. Wyatt is the cute boy of my nephew Blake and his wife Lisa. They were so adorable and Kennedy was patient with Aunt Sheryl while I played with her and kissed on her.

How Low can you Go?
Well have you ever been in a low…you know when you get a bit overwhelmed, and it ends up paralyzing you instead of motivating you? That ‘s me. Can’t decide between what you should do, what you need to do, and what you want to do? Since the kids left to go back to Colorado, I miss them more, and I think of Brendon and Steph so far away in Missouri, and My Cody so far away in Honduras. Miss them all so very much. This is actually a bit odd for me. But that old “empty nest” for us momma’s is very real.
Great thing is that I have 7 kids close by as well. Grant and Julia just moved into their home last week, Jordan and Breana are here in Corona as well.. Skyler and Garen, here with us, our bookend kids, oldest and youngest. And great news for me….Randi moves back home this weekend.
This weekend was a good one, I was missing Russell a lot, as he was off skiing on a work trip in Mammoth. I did however get to go to my sweet niece Kate’s baptism, then on to Breana’s sister’s wedding. Sunday, I got to hear Julia speak in her new Ward, Grant was home “dying”, at least that is what his Bishop said. Then we got to have our 2nd Sunday of the month family dinner and Fireside. Garen gave a lesson on Pres. Monson’s talk in this month’s Ensign. Really great to discuss the importance of prayer, and hear my oldest son say “this is not a concept that is new to our family”.
So smile a little smile for me…cuz I booked a flight for Russell and I to go celebrate Jackson’s birthday in April. That should hold me for a while.

Oh yeah, and getting my act together. That will take some time as well.

First - totally taken up by this cutest boy and his parents! We had a great 10 days!! The many faces of our boy just dazzled this Gramma daily
His vocabulary – totally amped up from 4 months ago, and increased while he was here for sure.

He and his "Bampa" created a stronger bond. One Sunday at church, as Russell was on the stand taking care of High Council duties, Jackson stood up on the chair, and the congregation heard a not so quiet "Bam-pa, BAM-PA!" Many chuckles surfaced from those near and far in the congregation.
He and his fav’s , Skyler and Randi had lots of bonding moments. Randi spent the night a few times, and when Jackson woke up to find Randi on the couch we heard "Randi, Up, Randi, UP!" He wanted her to get up and play, but usually she coaxed him to cuddle up with her for a few…

Secondly... My calling. In December I was called to be the Stake Primary President. We have been in a whirl of presenting Sharing Time at Ward Conferences, Learning the ropes, Orienting new Presidencies...tricky being a new presidency ourselves...

The last two weeks, attending Blue and Gold banquets and seeing the creativity and love of the wards for their boys and the scouting program.

Saturday night at the "Coffee Depot"

Last night Russell and I and some of our kiddos went to support our Garen in his band's debut. The "Gallapaghost" ("Gallapagos" was taken). This little band consists of Donnie (writer of great songs) on vocals, guitar and mandolin. Ryan on guitar and mandolin, Garen on drums and some backup vocals, Mike on percussion instruments, Leanne did a great job harmonizing with her brother Donnie on vocals. We listened to 3 groups total, and enjoyed to some degree those who performed before, but.....I must say they saved the best for last. Donnie has a way with words that create a visual, and they were very good at letting those lyrics be heard along with the music, which the others were not so advanced in said technique.

The guys had practiced a few times at my house, so I was familiar with the songs, and really enjoyed it in the venue there at the Depot. Great building in Riverside, and pleasantly surprised at just how much we all enjoyed the talents of our young people. We were not the only parents there to cheer on our son, that was great to see as well.

The kids had a great support, and friends turned out in numbers and most were there to support Gallapaghost. It was fun to see them all come together and come from all over So. Cal. for their friends. These are our friends Amber, Jill and Kelly...and so many more!Way to go kids. Good times!

This is the picture Skyler requested I post before I embarrass him! He went fishing a few weeks ago with his friend and did himself proud with this catch!So as I hinted at earlier, our youngest and boldest child is keeping us on our medical toes! As I landed in Utah December 30th, Brendon asked if I had spoken to Russell, as he was on his way to emergency with Skyler. He had hurt himself on his second outing giving snowboarding a whirl.
Well, whirl it was, as he landed on his shoulder, (this is not him) and separated the "AC joint" at his shoulder. We actually have a picture on DVD of how pretty his bone is sticking up, I tried to download it, but it won't let me. You can see the bump under his skin, looking at his shoulder under his shirt. When I looked it up on the internet, lots of pretty pictures. He is now 3 weeks into this injury, and just received a brace yesterday to immobilize his shoulder better and keep his arm from becoming too "weighty" to help the healing process.The next Skyler adventure was this morning having 4 wisdom teeth removed. I tell you! I am pretty sure that Skyler won't let me to post his post-teeth removal picture, Go figure, some 19 year olds are so touchy about such things! His face is actually quite pretty still, not alot of swelling, and applesauce and jello are on the menu for tonight! I have not ever had any wisdom teeth myself , and my other 7 kids skated by with only Jordan having 1 to remove. We must not have much wisdom…:)

Grant and Julia's new adventures!

Since Julia hasn't started a blog yet, but I am so sure she will (hint, Hint)! I must share a few fun and exciting things happening in their young newlywed lives. First anniversary is coming up on March 22nd!
First our Julia had a birthday! (Sorry for the redeye!)We were able to round up the family to celebrate and have a birthday dinner and game night. Complete with a Fajita Feast, and a ROUSING game of Hand and Foot. Russell even joined in the game adventures! But it was fun to celebrate together.
Grant and Julia have a new addition to the family, our first Grand-dog, Cooper. He is a little ball of fluff, fun, and puppy breath! He is a maltese-poodle mix, and quite adorable.

And the Grand topper!!!! Grant and Julia have bought a home in Corona! A week ago Sunday, they found out that the house was theirs. Yesterday we were able to go see it and see them do some signing of official documents. We were nervous buying our first house, and I think I am just as nervous for my kids when they make that committment. A bit scary, but so amazing at the same time. Julia's Dad, Cole Warner, Russell and Skyler waiting out front...Cole did a little watering of the plants while we were waiting.
Grant is looking pleased with their new digs!

Congratulations to our wonderful kids and all the great things happening in their lives!! We are SOOO excited that they are sinking roots in between the Warners and the Holmes, all in the same Stake!! It is going to be a great adventure.

Ringing in the New Year!

IN UTAH!

My New Year's Eve was spent in Utah! I went to see my sister Lori and her hubby Brent, and their boy Will in their new home. I love to see where people live after they move, so I can imagine them there when I am far away. My other purpose of going was to spend time with Brendon and Stephanie, as they are our kids in Missouri now, and they were in Utah for the holidays with Stephanie's family. As I arrived in Utah, Brendon and Steph came and picked me up at the airport, where upon I found out that Russell was on his way to the emergency room with Skyler with a dislocated shoulder from snowboarding. That is a whole other story ....

So on to Lori's house I go. After a tour of the house, and a good sleep, on New Year's Eve, we went to pick up Brent at the Church Office Building where he works. It is right next to Temple Square.I wish I could show you pictures of the beautiful artwork there, but lets just say amazing. I received a tour again... amazing. Then on to bowling, Williams activity of choice. Brendon and Stephanie met us there, and we had a fun time. My competive son, married himself an athlete. He wasn't so sure he liked it when she beat us all soundly both games we bowled. Brendon kept trying to knock her off her streak.... this is his mischievious face after seeing if his attempt worked. But, he tried... to no avail. William thought this 8 pound ball could be tossed about like his rubber balls, but nope not the same!
On to the Gibson's for a night of good food and fun. Brent getting ready to teach us all "Hand and Foot"Lori's enjoying a story!Stephanie's family is so great, and we had fun playing games and snacking. Thank you to Aaron and Sue for letting me share your New Year's celebration!

Stephanie took her winning streak on to the game table. She won in Hand and Foot, Apples to Apples, and then her dad challenged her to a game of Spades, which she and Brendon beat him and her sister's hubby Tyler. It was her day, and she looks pretty proud of herself! Then ringing in the New Year! Missing my New Year's Kiss from my darlin' hub...for sure, but the couples here enjoyed this tradition!!

Or really big Christmas, as it is in our case! Christmas Eve with the Holmes Family starts with food and fun and family with the extended Holmes family. Russell is the oldest of 10 children, and we have needed to take our party to a church building for quite a few years now. We were fewer in numbers, missing our kids who were away with family in other states, but we carried on with Babies, this is our cousin Becki's baby Luke...what a doll he is and his cousin baby Lilee. We had aunts, Russell's sisters Jennifer, Barbara and Marie, and Randi with Sara!and cousins, Rebekah and Sarah, and Kate and KrisSilly cousin Dane reminiscing with Grant and cracking us all up!Grandpa reading the Christmas story, and a Christmas sing -along. On to the gift exchange and dessert, and a great Power Point slide show of the family giving love....

Then on to Christmas eve at the homefront, Dad reads the Christmas story after everyone gets into their new jammies. The kids do their sibling gift exchange....Christmas morning with just 3 kids at home....still great, but missin' a few! A much smaller Christmas morning. Our traditional hallway picture before we join at the tree..On to food and the Pitt Family for Christmas day. Skyler get belated birthday kisses from auntie Jana!Crazy Uncle Loren always livens up the day!Games and gifts and goodies. And a call from our missionary...Elder Cody Holmes is doing wonderful in Honduras! Although his packages have not arrived.

It was wonderful to be together rejoicing in family and our FAITH in our Savior whom we celebrate this day!

My baby is 19!

It is hard to believe, but the caboose of my Great Eight, is 19 today! A difficult time of year to have a birthday to have given birth, and a difficult one to have for a kid, 3 days before Christmas! He inevitably gets slighted, and overlooked. But here we are with a young adult son, who is preparing to go on a mission. Skyler is entertaining to say the least!He is Jackson's favorite Uncle, by virtue of how much time he spends with him, and how much he loves him. Whenever Jackson is around, Skyler is his favorite person to be with. They have so much fun together. It started day one, and continues today.... Skyler still asks why Heidi and Matt and our baby J have to live so far away!

He has a few hard and solid passions - one is that he is a fisherman extraordinare! Whether it be at the beach catching a shark, Or at a lake waiting for that catch,Or, at the side of a stream while we are camping,His other passions are skateboarding, and dirtbike riding. I am not usually with him when these activities are taking place, so hence no pictures, we will have to remedy that.

Skyler has a quiet soul, but his personality can come out loud and clear around his immediate family. Hard to believe?...believe. He has been one that needs to know why things are as they are, and sees inequalities in all facets of life for all mankind and lifeforms. He loves nature and is quite a bit like his dad. He has an unshakable spirit, and though life may not always hand him the easiest of roads, he is up to the challenges and keeps doing his best to become the best he can be. We love our boy (man), and we are all so blessed to have him in our lives. Love you Zook!

L.A. Temple lights and Young Adults!

My hubby's calling is serving on the Stake High Council, and his main assignment is serving with the Young Single Adult Ward. Since our two guys who are still here at home attend there, it is a great place for him to be. This weekend was filled with activities with them. Russell cooked tri-tip for their Christmas party and dinner. They had a talent show, I wish I had my camera with me for that! Those kids are so talented and so funny!

Last night we were able to make Chili, and take it along for a dinner at the L.A. Temple, and see the lights.

Where in the World will Taylor Roberts Serve?

Amid the celebrations and traditions of this time of year, we take a break for a most special young man, and a tradition of righteousness....Cody's great friend Taylor Roberts opened his mission call tonight. He was found wearing some silly lense-less glasses. The Robert's home was bulging with family and friends all so excited to find out where Taylor would be called to serve the Lord. Of course there was Peng Hua, a young man who joined the church after meeting Taylor on the High School basketball team. He just returned from his first semester at BYU Idaho with Taylor as well....great young man!The Olivas sisters were there as beautiful as ever, Rebecca and Bionca!Bishop Rowe came to support this young man, who is also his basketball playing buddy!Good friend Aaron McCammon, fellow ward member and BYU Idaho bud. After a sweet prayer by Taylor's grandpa, and a few emotional words of thanks by his dad, Brother Ed... he even thanked Cody and our friend Trevor Westover who are out there serving now! Then we listened to a tearful and sweet reading of a call to serve the Lord and the people of Leon, Mexico!
A big hug from Taylor one to Taylor two! They have been dating for a few years, and Taylor Behrens has been a great girl to support Taylor's choices to be where he is today!
As we said our goodbyes, I saw the old bishopric, and told the guys to turn around for a photo op...We sure miss seeing you all regularly!
Congratulations Taylor! Now you and Cody will be speaking Spanish to each other in a few years! Pretty Cool!! Go Forward with Faith!

Caroling, caroling!

We have a loooonnnnggg standing tradition of Christmas Caroling in our family. I grew up fixing goodies, and taking them to our Home Teacher, neighbors, and friends, accompanied by singing Christmas Carols as we arrive at the doorstep. Often to the chagrin of my children, we yearly have done the same with our kiddos as they grew. Now with the extended family growing, we have quite a harmonious choir. Some years we get the whole Pitt clan out here in Norco, other years we travel to Riverside for my sister's friends, some years to HB to carol to the friends of my Brother's family, and my parents friends as well.

This year it was scheduling problems that made it possible for us to take our kids that were available, and we went to a few friends in West Corona. Breana's family, this is Breana's sister Arwen!

The Carrillo's and The Allen's ( I told Kelly I wouldn't post her picture....) Of course we always take them by surprise, but it is always a fun night to add to our book of Tradition memories. So in the future, if you hear a little "Rudolph", or "Silent Night", or "We wish you a Merry Christmas", it's just the Holmes bringing good cheer, and a yummy plate of goodies! (Grant loves to belt out those carols) ;)

Christmas visitors!

We had a great evening, I highly recommend this! We got to steal 4 of my most favorite children in the world and spend a few hours with them last night! Our friends Scott and Joy have 3 incredibly beautiful and bright girls and one busy "all boy" son. Scott and Joy are great friends, Scott is the bishop in the Eastvale Ward and served as a counselor to Russell when he served there as bishop. Joy so funny and darling and is a dynamic and talented momma of her sweet brood, with a business she does from home. So I decided to endulge myself and have these 4 children come over for the evening. We got to have tacos, Carly(7) said she doesn't always like tacos that other people make, but....she loved ours. She told us she liked the shells that Russell cooked up. Carly and Taylor enjoyed our version called "supercrisp", corn tortillas fried crispy with some salt...homemade giant tortilla chips!as well as the meat and the cheese. Taylor (10)also enjoyed the dinner with that great smile on her face! She in an amazing big sister! I made the mistake of telling Sydney (5)that we had a candy game to play later, and she ate a good bit of taco, and wanted the games to begin! Brody sat in the high chair and enjoyed his dinner as well. Whilst trying to wiggle out of the chair as often as he could. Sweet baby! It took me back a few years.

Clearing the table, and an offer from Carly to do dishes, so sweet, and then it was a game of Pete! With a choice of Skittles or M&M's for thier turns.

They were awfully good at this game! Even Skyler had to get in on this action! We realized that we are sorrowfully short of children's games, so a trip to Target solved that, as the girls picked out "Trouble", "Sorry", and Sydney, picked out a few puzzles. Because she is "really good at the 100 piece ones", and she wasn't kidding! Russell and Skyler were doing the guy thing, chasing Brody around, and playing toys with him, as Jackson's stash came in handy. I had to steal kisses and and hugs, which he so freely gave, in between our girl activities of the evening. Truly the fun ended all too soon, and we decided we are going to do this again. Sydney asked what I was doing tomorrow. So sweet. Thank you Joy for sharing your beautiful brood, it did my heart so much good to hang with the younger set again!

Christmas Baking and the newest Mrs. Holmes!

First let me say, I soooo wish all of my Holmes girls were right here in the kitchen with us, but it was these three Mrs. Holmes that were able to come together today to do some Christmas baking. I thought it would be really fun to get Julia and Breana into the kitchen and making some tried and true cookie recipes that my boys, friends and family have enjoyed over the years. A little gift of Christmas cooking linens were brought out, and then let the baking begin!!We had some really great fun and lots of laughs as we first started with Chocolate chip cookies. As we were sharing and laughing the girls both pointed out "looks" and sayings that they see on their men, and the "my mom" isms that they have shared with their sweetie brides. I told a few stories on myself from cooking in a "newlywed" kitchen as well. On to Peanut Butter Kiss ....

And after....we had fun trying Pretzel Rods with white chocolate and sprinkles...pretty funny!And add some brownies, and we put together plates to take to our family, neighbors and friends. The girls were very patient with me, and made me smile alot to know that they are in love with my boys, and that makes me very happy, and so excited to see what the years ahead bring as we start a new tradition together! Next year....Randi, Stephanie and Heidi...we are looking forward to you joining us! I love my girls! All 5 of you!

Jackson is gonna be....A BIG BROTHER!

It seems like yesterday we were welcoming this baby into the world,it has been an incredible 19 months of loving this boy, but now this big boy, is gonna be a big brother! Our Heidi has unleashed her momma (me) and now I can tell you that we get to have grandbaby #2! Arrival is planned for June 7th, 2009!! We can't wait!

Heidi and Matt were being understandably cautious after having suffered a miscarriage in April, but this morning they heard a healthy heartbeat of a 13 week old baby! So now you all can guess how totally excited we are to welcome baby Shirley to our family! Momma is doing well, morning sickness subsiding a bit, and after some coaxing, Jackson told me this morning that he is ready to be a big brother!

What a great day! Starting off at 4:45 am to bake pies, and make candied yams, and blueberry jello. Taking the drive to Huntington Beach to my brother Steve's house for a family day of feasting and Thanksgiving :)

As our Pitt family tradition goes, the day is started with a big family soccer game, where family and local HB friends get dirty and have alot of FUN! Missed you my boys! Long standing this tradition. We have the soccer stars ...

and those who do their best to stay alive.

My neices Kelli, Alissa, and Emily show off their beautiful handiwork in the form of a beautiful apple pie!After the feast, Then it is on to the games. We had PIT, Munchkin, 5 crowns and Phase 10 and Imaginiff at various tables. There was some great laughter. Then on to dessert! We had quite a spread for sure.
Karen and Skip brought their outdoor portable firepit, and we took an oppportunity to gather round and sing the songs we grew up singing as we went camping for our vacations every year. Jeff video taped much of it, and we need to record these old songs as traditions such as they seem to fade too often and too easily.

All in all, as the day came to a close, I was soooo very THANKFUL for

My INCREDIBLE FAMILY, the BEST husband a girl could ask for, our now 13 beautiful children (8 plus Matt, Stephanie, Julia, Breana and our Jackson), who have chosen well their paths in life, and have helped our family continue in a righteous tradition of those who choose to follow the Savior. I'M BACK!

To all of my blogging world friends...ready or not I am coming back to life! My computer was ill, it caught a virus, and kicked me off any internet connection that I tried. Big Weekend of FAMILY!

We had a wonderful weekend of family, being surrounded by our kids, and reminders of family and extended family events. Dinners,bridal showers, and a Stake Conference that was full of reminders of the blessings of a righteous family. It mostly has helped me to spend some time reflecting on the goodness of life and the blessings of an Eternal family.

I once again feel deep love and have a renewed appreciation for an incredible husband and father in my Russell. He served an honorable mission, has always been obedient to the Lord. Has great clarity in doing what is right, and in so doing, has been a great example to our children. With six sons and two daughters, a dad’s roll is multifaceted. I have seen our sons follow in footsteps of Integrity, Testimony, Service, and Unconditional Love that is their dad. I know my daughters are very aware of how he treats me and them, and know that is what they can expect as they also choose well, a strong man of faith. I am so blessed.

It was great having Jackson and Heidi here. So comforting to hear my baby babble in his bed first thing in the morning. Smiling that Jackson smile as I open the door. Seeing my girl asleep here at my home at peace in slumber. They truly take a piece of my heart everytime they leave. I watch them go to get on the plane, and wonder if it is ever going to get any easier, I don’t think so. I think as the opportunities to spend time together are harder to create, I can’t wrap my mind or heart around that. So I enjoy while I can when I can. Thanks to Matt for sharing!

Having my Randi and my boys and sweet wives want to be here to spend time together with Heidi and our family was amazing. When we all sat down together last Sunday for dinner, I just sighed, and said “everyone’s here”. Jordan said “mom, not everyone”. That was so true. We missed Brendon, Stephanie, Matt, and Cody a lot these two Sundays that we ate together and relaxed and played. My mind is buzzing for creating a trip to Missouri to see my kids. That is a big undertaking, but it will happen. I need to see where their life is taking place.

Elder Russell M. Nelson in Conference said:
“The noblest yearning of the human heart is for a marriage that can endure beyond death. Fidelity to a temple marriage does that. It allows families to be together forever. This goal is glorious. All Church activities, advancements, quorums, and classes are means to the end of an exalted family.”
This Sunday Skyler was sustained to be ordained an Elder in Stake Conference. I am so grateful that this is the path we as a family are striving to be on. Any chance we have to recommit to it all is great. I feel my Heavenly Father’s love today in gratitude for this journey we have taken so far together, and pray for the outcome we are seeking for.
