Skyler and a new kind of "hawk"

"Mom I cut my hair today..." says Skyler under baseball cap as he is headed out to go to the skateboard park. " I used a '1' on the clippers" . I can see that it is quite short, and Skyler says he just wants to have it real short, and stay cooler for the last few days of summer. Off he goes.

Garen - "Mom did you see Skyler cut his hair today?" "Yes I did."
"You saw the mohawk?",
"Uh, no....he was wearing a baseball cap"
"Well he has one."
An hour or two later....."Hi mom, just checking in, I will be home in about an hour".

"Okay, we'll see you then, and you can finish your hair cut, Mr. Mohawk"
"Did Garen rat me out?"
"He sure did...but you knew that you would be cutting it off anyway right?"
"Yeah....are you sure I can't just keep it for tomorrow?"
"Yep, I'm sure"

In walks my boy, and he takes off his hat. mom is at the kitchen table, and the camera is close by.

He was not amused that I took pictures of the removal of the Hawk!

Now, that's my boy!

That is really funny! Boys are so comical at times with their hair antics! I think sometimes they are worse then us girls!

Do you remember the time we were at girls camp and Kevin called me to ask what I had done to Michael's hair? It was the day before he was to go off to BYU and I had put some highlights in it and told him to leave it in for 20 minutes then rinse it. I took off for camp. Evidently he left in in for about an hour and it was a hideous orange. Kevin woudn't even take him to school looking like that so took him in to get it fixed.

Why do kids do such silly things?

How funny. I guess he learned not to try to pull one over on you!

I wish that more of the mother's of my high school students had taken interest in the way their children dressed and groomed themselves.

Good for you mom.... and good for Skyler for respecting and following your advice. I think that you have a good thing going in the Holmes home.

I am laughing...remembering that it wasn't that long ago that we (my brothers and sisters) were trying to get away with stuff like that...and groaning...thinking that it won't be long before MY kids are trying to do it too. :)

Skyler! What a crack-up! I am definitely liking the hair better without the "hawk". :)

I need to take "How to be a cool mom" lessons from you. You handled that so well. I know some parents might have flipped out and not have even got the cooperation you got to get it cut off. You are the bomb!

haha, I had to giggle at this. They will try to push the limits won't they! When my oldest was around 10 he wanted a Mr T haircut.

oh wow. I love that all your kids respect you so much. It's amazing that he did come home and do what he knew was right. You've raised them all well. I'm nervous for the days my boy does that.
